Wedenesday creativity

To day has been a very busy day, work wise.  We had quite a few extremely ill patients coming through the ER.
The morning was going very smoothly until some idiot commented on how quiet we were! Thanks for nothing.  We then had in this order:
A patient who had drunk 1 1/2 cups of pool acid,
A patient needing an urgent blood transfusion,
A patient having a heart attack,
A patient who was unconscious,
A patient with such severe alcohol poisoning that she landed up in ICU and
An old lady who was refusing to eat or drink because she was cross with her daughter.
This is only the emergency side of the department and started at noon and ended when I went off shift. I hope the night shift has a better time than we did.

Yesterday I had some fun I went shopping for stock, I made two mistakes with that:
1. I took my daughter with
2. I took my credit card with

This is the result

Some great stuff there. My daughter has commandeered some of it. She helped my choose the pieces for a necklace based on the movie Hunger Games- Catching Fire
First we had to find pendants that would represent the movie and her main character.
The Mocking Jay- the symbol of their freedom
The bow and arrow- the main character is an excellent hunter with this weapon
The clocks the main theme in the hunger games is that every hour a new challenge begins
The Lightening Tree- this was a tree that conducted lightening and was used the end the games and destroy the arena.

The next part in creating a necklace is the length - which was easy, very long necklaces are in.
The where to place the pieces and finally securing the pieces to the chain.

And then my daughter took it!!! But that's okay as I made two more!

I also used up some of my old stock to make this trinket Bangle (Pandora style beads). this will have to be for a person with a large wrist.

Who You Tuesday

Once again I apologize for any oddities you found in yesterday's blog, like the repeat of pictures all over the place, not sure what that was as it didn't show up on the draft, but thanks for reading.

As I said Tuesdays will be interview days and since I only decided to do this on Sunday the first person I will interview is myself!

I thought I would share some observations of some of the things I have learned about life in general from my nursing experience.

1. The first is that life is far to short for grudges, especially family and friends. Since we don't know how long we will each live, take the time to burry the animosity and reconnect.  You don't have to be best friends but at least being civil and speak to each other.

2. The second thing I learned was from working in a multicultural environment. South Africa is a country of very diverse cultures, where people are trying to blend their traditions and modernity together, which doesn't always work. What we might think is rude another culture might think is polite. An example of this is, we teach students when speaking to an elderly patient don't call the ouma (granny) or oupa (grandpa) they are not your family, however this only applies to white culture! In black culture not addressing and elder by Gogo (granny) or (Umkhulu) is disrespectful.

No Monday Blues for me!

With my new aggressive (for me anyway) advertising effort my Etsy views have doubled now to make a sale!

I have been looking at other blogs this week and thinking hard on how to make this blog enjoyable and informative and successful.

If you are one of the kind people reading my blog as I post you will notice that every now and then something changes, I have been trying to find a format that will work for me and entice more people to share and get more readers.

I have settled on a plan of action that will hopefully give us all something to look forward to reading each week.

For those linguist you will occasionally note that either the spelling is slightly off or the grammar is not all it should be.  The spell check is set for U.S. English as that is where most of my shop clients are. The bad grammar is all mine.

The format that I have settled on is as follows

On Mondays I would like to look at the week ahead and the week that has just been. For the week ahead it will be items like teasers that will appear in this blog during the week and in the week past I will look at things that I learnt from readers comments, other blogs and what was in the news that was interesting.

On Tuesdays I will publish "interviews" with different people, some will be crafters and some will be inspirational, some may be other bloggers, but everyone will have something for us to enjoy. This week I will "interview" myself so that you can get to know me.

On Wednesdays I will feature one item from Adiesdesigns and talk about how it came about and the making of it. This will also be the days when it is a good idea to look in the specials page as sometimes just for my followers I will have a treat.  (a coupon, a give away, a competition etc.)

On Thursdays we will talk fashion, trends, colors, shoes, hair, accessories, where to find, how to dress for different occasions, this information will come from lots of different sources and fashion blogs, online clothing shops.

On Fridays I would like to do a review, whether it is a movie, a book, or a TV show.

SATURDAY'S I REST.

On Sundays I will feature a recipe, something that I found or made. Healthy eating tips. Cooking tips and all things food related.

I hope this will keep us all entertained.  If there is something you would like to read about please ask and I will research it .

There will be no political discussions in this blog!!!
